Presenting to class our idea

On the 12th of march our group presented t the class our idea. we talked about what the short film is about we talked about target audience cast and the locations that we need and have come up with. For some of the scenes it will be during night time on the road outside with street lamps Amy pointed out that we might need a torch with gel to make it look like night vision, at the end of the lesson Killian and Owais went to the technicians if they had the torches. However, they didn't have any except one which is broken.

Brainstorm: Content and Target Audience

Content:

The idea we came up with to do a short film and do in horror genre, because we thought doing in horror would be more entertaining and interesting for the audience. We also did horror short film before and got positive comments from people, by knowing this information we thought it would be good to do in horror genre. Owais had an idea for the project and did a draft script, which it was one possible idea for the horror short film. We all read the script and thought that the script was good and decided to do this.  There are going to be different locations, so that the film can look good and so that the audience don’t lose interest in the film. We decided to film at the field and we are going to film in house. We decided to film at these locations, because the script Owais has done, had decided to locate in the house and outside the field.

Target audience:

Firstly, our target audience is aimed at 15 to 40, because sub-genre of this short film is zombie and usually the zombie movies are 15+ like in Resident Evil. This movie is also a zombie movie and their age rating is 15+, because it is not violent as supernatural horror movies, but it also doesn’t appeal to younger audience. This is because it can be too violent for young audience (children). Secondly, it is aimed at mainly male, because there are mainly going to be male characters and it is going to be bit of violent scenes. Moreover, it is aimed at all ethnicities, because we want this short film to appeal large audience as much as possible. Furthermore, it is aimed students, full time, part time or unemployed. This is because we are trying to aim at large audience as possible as we can and by aiming at large audience there will be more audience to watch the short film. Lastly, it is aimed at people who like zombie horror, because the genre of the short film is going to be horror and the narrative is going to be about zombie.

The film will be shown on YouTube and on social network, so that everyone can see the short film. YouTube and social network like Facebook is a good to put the short video, because there will be more people to see our video we done. On YouTube and social network, people also can comment on the video and it is a positive thing, because we get to see what our target audience think about short film and get to see if they like it or not.

proposal for our short film

our idea for the final major project (fmp) is to make a short horror film, we have aimed this at both genders but may appeal more to males due to the blood aspects.
we intend to use many locations over london to create our short film , we intend to make it 7-15 minutes long and we have written a script as a guide for the actors.
our idea is a zombie film  where london is infected, the government has abandoned the civilians and everyone has to fend for themselves, other countries don't want risk they're people being infected so no one thinks to help londons civilian, the infection came from a science lab experimenting on a type of bacteria from south america which controls insects and kills them and controls their carcasses.
our story revolves around two human characters and a zombie who attacks them and is killed (again). it ends with an open ending that could be a means to a) a sequel or b) for the audience to interpret or predict what happens at the end of the story
we have a range of actors for a cut away where the virus is being explained

i want the zombies to be like this but less rotten flesh and more bloody and deranged hair and facial expressions allot like this: 

but not white skinned but more Gray, brown, darker skinned making the skin look dead 

the hair can be up to the person in charge of make up, i personally want them to be savage looking, their costumes should be old clothes , slightly torn and bloody

the main zombie should look more human than zombie but blood coming down the head from the hair like this:

this makes our main zombie look more psychotic than the ordinary zombie extras, the idea im going for is that the character is misleading so you see a normal girl from foor to shoulder and you see the blood drops around her neck the see a psychotic smile and then it shows he face , the blood coming from an unseen head wound

Knights of the Dead

dim  outside around sunset , camera follows behind jack, walking on a pavement with white headphones in his ears and a side bag, listening to but not nodding to music, just walking briskly back to his house.

Camera changes to show dante, observing the jack walking from a window of a house.

Camera montages though dante picking up a cricket bat, scarf and swimming goggles – he’s wearing a brown jacket, blackened slightly, jogging bottoms and trainers.

Camera returns to the jack, turning keys on front door however, door doesn't open up smoothly, he sort of tackles it and  slams against it hard causing it flies open. He throws the keys down, closes the door. Takes off his Bag, removes jacket and walks into the living room
Notices extremely pungent smell and gags, covering mouth with forearm.

Camera turns swiftly right to reveal a teenage girl standing 

Jack still unaware of her, turns light on

He sees her face and is scared out of his wits, the unknown female  is scruffy in appearance, hair greasy, skin very pale and has blood around her lips. Her eyes are bloodshot, and her dress is soaked in blood from the front, as if she threw up.

jack (swallows), “Oi... what the hell (He screams as he observes her more)” (her fingers twitch eerily)he panics, walking backwards he trips and falls to the floor, retreating back slowly towards a window, horrified by the ghastly appearance of the female progressing towards him,like  a corpse almost, not moving slow but not entirely fast to create suspense .)

WINDOW BREAKS (glass coke bottles smashed in a box then poured along a strip of wooden floor covered by a thin layer of cling film so we are able to keep the area safe, the sound effect will be edited in)

two tin cans are tossed inside, thick smoke coming out (ACHIEVE THIS EFFECT BY PUTTING A SCRUNCHED UP PAPER BALL IN A TIN CAN WITH NUMEROUS HOLES, PRODUCES LOTS OF SMOKE), BADASS enters through the front door, kicking it open, goggles on his eyes, scarf around his mouth and like a baseball hitter, his bat in his hands
The female is shaking, screaming and going completely berserk from the smoke cloud.
dante swings bat to her head.
She is still standing; he raises his bat and brings it down one more time on her head, sending a splash of blood to the ground, knocking her to the floor

jack having seen this starts crying, “Please!! Ah-huh-huh don’t hurt me, please, take whatever you want just don’t hurt me I beg you mister”

dante, “Relax I’m not here to kill you, you retard, get up”

Smoke alarm goes off, dante throws cans outside

Wiping blood of his bat dante helps jack up, and gets him sat down on a couch, he removes his goggles, scarf and places bat next to the 17 year old. (TURNS OUT HE'S ALSO ROUGHLY 17, LOOKS YOUNGER)

dante, “Now I need you to relax, all this must have scared the life out of you... just sit there for me please”

dante removes goggles, scarf and places it next them to the 17 year old along with the bat

jack “what the hell was that” (SHAKING)

dante, “I’ll explain it in a bit, mind if I make some tea”

jack, “Yeah sure... ummm... kitchens there...” (POINTS BEHIND dante, WHO WALKS TO THE KITCHEN) 17 Year old stares at corpse

dante, (WHILE POURING BOILING WATER INTO MUG) “I’m sure you’re aware of what’s been happening”

jack, “no... I really don’t know”

dante returns from the Kitchen

dante, “WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT, are you seriously telling me your completely oblivious to what’s been happening since morning... are you serious?”

jack, “well yeah, I was out somewhere today”

dante gives 17 year old tea and begins to explain while observing 17 year olds living room

dante, “there has been an outbreak, from a military R&D facility in London. You see there was this bacteria, a kind of a virus that takes over the brain”

jack, “what?”

dante, “Just listen, apparently it came from these bugs in the wild, now that girl there”

POINTING TO ZOMBIE

dante,(back ground fades as the explanation begins, the shot of the field is chroma keyed in but the main characters face will be  in the side, clips of bacteria and insects will be edited in during the explanation to give it a scientific look) “she was infected. You see this bacteria, it’s found in certain places in south America, making the bugs kill themselves so the bacteria itself feeds on their little carcases.  So Military scientists, well those naive rats wanted to implement this into some kind of biological weapon... biological weapon (HE DOES A LITTLE LAUGH). So they... they took it and they changed it, they tried messing with it to use it for their own advantage, but nature doesn't work like that, see they tried to make it different... but it ended up mutating further. You've seen Jurassic park, you know how the female dinosaurs change to males... well it’s like that, these bacteria mutated completely unpredictably, only because they didn't know what they were dealing with it, but they kept on meddling. Testing had showed what it was doing, and they thought eureka, we've done it... we've created the ultimate fucking weapon without having a clue it would backfire on them”.

jack, (STARING AT TEA CUP) “Ok... but that doesn't make any sense, how the hell did it get out of the military base...”

dante, “R&D facility. It didn't escape... no no no no, it didn't i'm telling you it didn't escape. Some lunatic took it out some way.”

MOMENTARY SILENCE

dante, “Oh and if you're wondering, you won't get infected... no the only way you’re gonna die is if one of these (POINTING TO ZOMBIE) rip you apart”

jack, “How do you know I won’t?”

dante, “well you've been out all day haven't you, with that much exposure you should've died already. So you must have some immunity, and yes... there are people who are naturally immune to this, like you. Unless you`re bitten, then you’re gone”.

jack begins to sip his tea slowly, his hand shaking

dante, “What you...”

Zombie gets up quickly and tackles dante to the ground, tries to bite him as he lies there, but badass uses his hands to push her head back. jack jolts out of his seat and backs away, spilling his tea on the floor, nervous and scared.

dante, “HELP! Fucking get her”

jack quickly goes and attempts to fight the Zombie
But the zombie turns, screaming at him she jumps, jack falls down
Leaving dante is free, as the zombie attempts to attack jack
dante stands in an instant, pulls out a deodorant, like a gunslinger, lights his lighter and WHUSHHHH

Camera shows massive flame come at the screen

Camera shows shadow of dante pointing his improvised flame-thrower off camera. Zombie collapses to the ground screaming. 

(jack STARES AT dante AS HE DRAGS the BODY OUTSIDE)

dante, (DUSTS OF HANDS AND WIPES BLOOD OFF OF FACE)

“What? I can’t have that thing just lying there it puts me off my tea” (SITS DOWN AND PICKS UP CUP) “she must`ve been infected yesterday… sort of a zombie really... completely DEAD, a corpse man, a corpse... the bacteria is controlling her body, sending signals to muscles forcing her to do... well this. She probably broke into your house or something”

jack, “How do you know about this?”

dante, “It wasn’t on the news, i found out through my acquaintances... (CHUCKLES) you don’t have to believe me (SHRUGS SHOULDERS) actually don’t for all I care... but that thing in front of you, it’s not human... ok... and there’s gonna be more of her coming her soon”
jack "what, more of those things?!"
dante "your not too bright are you, take a look outside its a ghost town, I think we're probably the only two people alive in a 500 meter radius maybe even further"
jack peers out the window, trying to see outside
dante "they cant see you dumb ass, they rely on sound but I don't know how long we'll have that minor blessing, see its a bacteria so it can evolve rapidly"
jack "s-so what are you saying?"
dante "basically we need to get out of here and quickly"  (looks around the room)  " but first we need something to distract them"
jack "how are we gonna go about that?"
dante " we could use some cans , throw them from the top floor window at the other side of the street!" (picks up cans littered across the floor ) " good think you have enough to spread their numbers out or maybe lead them away from the house"
(both take cans up the stairs)

*they arrive upstairs and badass starts to throw the cans down towards the houses furthest from where they are*
dante: "this should draw them away, but keep quiet otherwise they might hear us and charge the house, the plan is to slip out while they're distracted"
*the zombies start heading towards the disturbance*
the two characters dash down the stairs and quietly open the front door trying not to alert the zombies of their location and slip out , the 17 year old accidentally hits the bell triggering the zombies to hear them , the run towards the door and the scene ends, black out for 30 secs then the prologue begins of dante dragging jack through the street on his shoulder , both are bloody , the camera pans down to the floor to see a trail of blood drops leading to a pile of zombies collapsed on each other
